Digital X-Rays

Digital X-rays are an imaging tool our veterinarians use to examine the internal organs and internal systems of your pet. SmartVet is equipped with advanced digital radiology technology that enables us to find foreign objects, diagnose fractures and joint abnormalities, screen for abnormalities in the internal organs (such as cancer), and perform dental x-rays.

Digital radiology has a significant number of benefits for you and your pet compared to traditional film radiology. The image quality of a digital x-ray is significantly better than a film x-ray, and the digital technology gives us instant access to your pet’s results, allowing us to quickly diagnose and treat your pet.  Digital radiology is also environmentally friendly because there are no chemicals to contaminate water systems or plastic films to recycle. Radiation exposure to your pet is minimized because digital radiology requires far less radiation compared to old fashioned film x-rays.

Digital X-Rays for Dental Care

Digital x-rays can also be used to take digital photos of your pet’s mouth. In addition to a comprehensive oral exam, digital dental x-rays can reveal oral problems that are difficult to detect with the naked eye. Digital x-rays give us the ability to examine the anatomy of your pet’s teeth, roots, gums, and surrounding bones. Using digital x-rays, our veterinarians can quickly spot and diagnose bone loss or hidden disease that may be present and get your pet started on the best road to a healthy mouth.
