Client Service Representative
SmartVet is the only animal hospital in the Bloomington and Normal, IL, area that can come to your home! Our unique mobile veterinary service brings comprehensive pet care directly to your doorstep.

Additionally, you can visit our state-of-the-art animal hospital in Normal for all your pet’s health needs. Whether you prefer at-home veterinary care or our fully equipped hospital, our veterinarians provide the latest in pet health care, including wellness care, vaccines, dental care, and surgery. We also offer digital X-rays, in-house laboratory services, and ultrasound diagnostic care.

All of our veterinarians are certified Fear Free and certified Cat-Friendly practitioners.

More about the Role

To provide a knowledgeable and caring person for clients and staff to communicate with through professional written and oral communication in order to achieve a high level of client service and patient care. This position requires constant communication with both clients and coworkers, as well as adequate record keeping. This position should take direction from the Lead CSR as well as DVMs, and reports directly to the Practice Manager.

Hours of operation: Monday – Friday 7:00am – 6:00pm & Saturday 8:00am – 12:00pm

Pay Range: $15 – $18 DOE

Essential Responsibilities

  • Greet clients in a friendly, professional manner as soon as they enter the building.
  • Communicate with clients in an knowledgeable and professional manner, to include correct grammar and spelling, through various types of communication; including phone calls, text messages, emails, VetPort messages, and facebook messages.
  • Communicate client concerns and follow up with DVMs and other staff members through verbal communication and through medical records.
  • Scheduling appointments correctly based on appointment type.
  • Confirming next day appointments and making adjustments to the schedule, if necessary, to make the provider’s day more efficient.
  • Custom Reminders.
  • Checking in patients for appointments.
  • Checking clients out and taking payment for services.
  • Fill prescriptions.
  • Attach outside reference lab results to patient EMRs.
  • Check the fax folder in order to respond to and record faxes in medical records.
  • Make sure shelves are stocked and check inventory.
  • Unpack incoming shipments in accordance with inventory receiving guidelines.
  • Smile, be supportive of each other, help each other with tasks as needed.
  • Clean up after yourself and encourage staff to do the same.
  • Check the daily task list located in the breakroom.
  • Check the weekly task list located on printer island at the front desk.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Ability to work on weekends as required
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous veterinary experience preferred
  • Client satisfaction references preferred
  • Practices OSHA safety techniques including proper PPE

More about the Role

This position will support the Veterinarians of the practice by assisting in surgery, appointments, and providing procedure appointments to patients. Credentialed Veterinary Technicians (CVT) have graduated from a program with the Veterinary Technician degree and also passed the Veterinary Technician National Exam in order to gain their credentials and credentials are to be maintained during employment. CVTs will continue to educate themselves in order to have current knowledge on technical skills and medicine relevant to their position of support. This position will encompass patient care, technical skills, as well as client communications and education. The Certified Veterinary Technician takes direction from the Lead CVT and the Medical Director, and reports directly to the Practice Manager.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Restraint of both feline and canine patients using Fear Free Techniques.
  • Patient history and room management for DVM appointments.
  • CVT appointments; to include knowledge of medical chart, procedures and diagnostics to be performed, history and medication recorded in EMR, and reporting to DVM afterwards.
  • Surgical preparation and planning.
  • Surgical preparation of patient, to include premedication, IV catheter placement, intubation, surgical site sterilization.
  • Surgical Monitoring.
  • Dental charting, radiographs and cleaning. Extraction closure depending on comfort level of CVT.
  • FreeStyle Libre placement and client education.
  • Diabetic patient knowledge and client education.
  • Technical skills that are able to be performed by CVTs as laid out by the State Licensing Board.
  • Clear, concise, and professional communication (both written and oral) with owners and other staff members.
  • Control substance logging and use per DEA guidelines.
  • Fill prescriptions.
  • Veterinary Assistant job description and responsibilities.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • State license to work as a certified/licensed/registered veterinary technician in state of desired employment
  • Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance
  • Practice OSHA safety techniques including proper PPE
  • Basic computer skills, familiarity with MS office applications, etc.
  • Basic math and ability to calculate medication dosages
  • Strong communication skills to ensure patient safety

Veterinarian

SmartVet Mobile Veterinary Service is eager to add another veterinarian to our team! We are currently a four-veterinarian practice serving various clientele in the Bloomington and Normal, IL communities. We see patients at our advanced practice in Normal as well as provide home veterinary care. All of our veterinarians are Fear Free Certified, Certified Cat-Friendly Practitioners, and have strong interests in wellness care, dentistry, and surgery. We utilize equipment like digital X-rays, in-house laboratory, and ultrasound for top-quality diagnostic care.

Our veterinarians are supported by a support staff consisting of four CVTs, multiple veterinary/kennel assistants, and a great reception team. Our support staff is well-trained, and independent, and takes on responsibilities such as medical histories, blood draws, restraints, radiographs, and more. This ensures that our veterinarians can focus on communicating with clients, creating plans, and organizing record keeping.

Our compassionate and friendly Midwest clientele go out of their way to give their pets the best care.
