It’s our 10 Year Anniversary!
On November 1st, 2011 Dr. Walter started SmartVet with just a SmartCar and a tackle box. All of her patients were seen by mobile appointment because she was working out of her garage. There was a significant need in the Bloomington-Normal area for in-home vet care and business was good. One year later she bought a little brick building on Pine Street, painted it purple, and started seeing clients in the new office as well as mobile appointments.
By the winter of 2016 SmartVet had added another DVM, Dr. Laura Peterson, and ten support staff. The little purple building on Pine was fun but it was no longer practical. In January of 2017 we moved into the current office on Fort Jesse, painted the interior purple, and added two more cars to the mobile service. In 2019 Dr. Erin Adkins joined the team.
Today, on our 10th anniversary, SmartVet consists of three DVMs, two CVTs, and 14 support staff. We sincerely want to thank all of our ‘old guard’ clients who started seeing Dr. Walter before there was even an office and all of our newer clients for allowing us to provide care for their pets.

Our 10th anniversary was made even more special because SmartVet was voted into first place for Best Vet Office and Dr. Walter was voted into second place for Best Veterinarian in the 2021 Pantagraph Reader’s Choice.
